Sustainable Beverage Technologies (“SBT”) makes draft beer more profitable and environmentally-friendly. Our patented fermentation process creates beer with 6 times the flavor density of traditionally-produced beer. By distributing our beer in lightweight bag-in-box (“BiB”) packaging -- instead of heavy steel kegs -- and blending with carbonated water at the point of sale using our proprietary NexDraft tap system, we generate tremendous savings in logistics, shipping costs, water usage, and fossil fuel consumption.

SBT is looking for a Director of Operations to manage all aspects of beer production taking place at our manufacturing partner’s facility, where our own equipment and personnel are co-located. In addition, this position will support the installation of our equipment at the facilities of customers who license our proprietary BrewVo® process for their own use.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a production management role at a large craft brewery, particularly with regards to the selection, installation and integration of automated brewery equipment. Candidates should be comfortable in a dynamic environment, where changes occur more frequently than at most breweries, due to continual advancements in our technology and the high growth environment we operate in. A hunger for continuous improvement is a must, and a passion for sustainability is a plus.

Lead a team of 5-7 highly-technical production personnel.

Manage all production staffing, from recruiting through training and continuous development.

Ensure all SOPs are followed at all times. Maintain and improve SOPs, developing new ones as needed.

Perform or oversee all scheduling activities, including production schedules and staffing.

Supervise all supply chain activities, from purchasing to receipt and inventory management.

Manage the selection, installation, commissioning and validation of all new equipment.

Foster a culture of safety; ensure a safe and comfortable work environment with a goal of zero workplace injuries.

Develop systems and processes to support the most reliable, high-quality production possible, including sanitation, preventative maintenance schedules and planned downtime.

Work with the finance department/CFO to create annual and quarterly budgets, including staffing and capital plans.

Assist the CTO in supporting customer sales, by evaluating site requirements and creating project budgets for customers’ installation of our equipment.

In future, manage field technical support, including hiring and supervising additional personnel, to enable our customers’ successful use of our technology.

Extensive knowledge of all aspects of large-scale brewing, from grain to glass.

Ability to communicate effectively with customers, manufacturing partners, and colleagues.

Experience with brewery ERP systems.

Proficiency with modern office software, including Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets).

Strategic mindset, anticipating needs and issues which will arrive through growth and proactively offering ideas and solutions to position the company for success.

8+ years of brewing experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or production management role.

Bachelor’s degree in a brewing-related or technical field.
