Elysian's Chucky: A Killer Wit Beer

He just wants to be your (drinking) friend ‘til the end.

America’s favorite serial killer doll has teamed up with Seattle-based Elysian Brewing to create a limited-edition Halloween beer ahead of the Oct. 5 Season 2 Premiere of “Chucky” which airs on USA Network and SYFY.

The beer might be one of the most subtle things the demonic doll has ever done. Elysian has made more than 100 different types of pumpkin beer since the first brewed in 1997, said Elysian co-founder Joe Bisacca. Chucky: A Killer Wit Beer is a take on a classic Belgian witbier, a lighter Belgian style that translates to “white beer” and is traditionally spiced with orange and coriander. This iteration isn’t a slap in the face (or a knife in the back?) of pumpkin spice flavors; instead it has a hint of (blood red) cranberry along with flavors of chamomile and cinnamon.

The collaboration is the latest in a series of television shows and movies that have partnered with spirits brands for drinks that appeal to fans. “The Walking Dead” worked with The Sexton Single Malt for a special edition that also gave fans access to extra content, “House of the Dragon” teamed up with Vintage Wine Estates for a line of wines and Diageo even made a real tequila based on a “Silicon Valley” joke. Full disclosure: I work at NBCUniversal as digital editorial director for SYFY, USA and Oxygen, but I did not work on this partnership or try the beer ahead of a tasting for other drinks writers.

Chucky showed up at the tasting, greeting everyone with a “hey there, asswipes,” which is about as refined as it gets for a doll that kills. For those that need a refresher, Chucky, created by director Don Mancini, is a doll possessed by the spirit of serial killer Charles Lee Ray. While fleeing from detective Mike Norris in the original 1988 film "Child's Play," Charles performs a voodoo spell that peels his soul out of his human body and into that of a Good Guy Doll, a must-have toy during the holiday season — it was the 1980s, so think Teddy Ruxpin but terrifying and with those classic red locks and overalls.

The Chucky: A Killer Wit Beer custom tap handle.

A trailer released by Elysian for the beer recalls the classic transformation. Chucky has broken into the brewery, creepily asks an unsuspecting worker his trademark “Wanna Play?,” smashes up some pumpkins, leaves a puddle of blood, and generally freaks out the unfortunate brewer before jumping into a beer fermenter. The next day, another brewer takes a sip and is probably (most definitely) possessed by the spirit of Chucky.

The beer is available at limited bars, where there’s a killer custom knife tap handle, as well as stores across the country. It will also be available at the beer’s Great Pumpkin Beer Festival Presented by The Vera Project Sept. 30- Oct. 1. To find if the beer is available near you, go to Beer Finder at Elysian Brewing.

"Chucky" Season 2 premieres on USA Network and SYFY on Oct. 5 at 9 p.m. ET. Season 1 is currently streaming on Peacock.
