The following events are planned for the week ahead throughout the region:

• The West Reading Craft Pretzel & Beer Fest, featuring 40 regional beers and a variety of pretzel makers and pretzel dishes, will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. along the 500 through 700 blocks of Penn Avenue. The event is free, with pay-as-you-go food and drinks, or you can purchase a three-hour ticketed tasting of locally made pretzels and beer for $45. The Youngers, a local Americana band, will headline the music, performing at 4 p.m. on the Sixth Avenue Stage. Performing earlier in the day are Mike & The Y-Tones at 12:15, John King Dance Band at 1:30 and FSB Band at 2:45. For more information, see visitwestreading.org.

• Steel River Playhouse, Pottstown, will stage Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Sweat” from Friday through May 1. “Sweat” is set in Reading and focuses on a group of friends who work at a steel mill and frequent a nearby bar. But their lives are uprooted and their fellowship tested when word spreads that the steel mill is making changes that will put their livelihoods at risk, including recruiting non-union Latino workers for less money. Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets cost $29 for adults, $24 for ages 65-plus and $17 for students 5 and older at steelriver-playhouse.org.

• The 16th Annual West Chester Film Festival, featuring films that are 30 minutes or less from around the world, will be held from Friday through Sunday, with the main venue being the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center. Throughout the weekend, more than 60 films will be shown at the main festival as well as the Family Film Festival and Young Filmmaker Film Festival. In addition, Pop-Up films will be shown at locations around the borough. Friday will feature an opening-night party. Saturday will include free filmmaker workshops followed by a Filmmaker Meet & Greet. A Closing Night Party on Sunday will include an awards ceremony. • The Keswick Theatre, Glenside, presents singer-songwriter Aimee Mann on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., The Legends Live Tour featuring Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals and Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. and Lindsey Buckingham on Monday at 7:30 p.m. For tickets and more information, see keswicktheatre.com.

• The 49th annual Yellow Springs Art Show, featuring 215 juried artists and nearly 4,000 works of original art, opens at 10 a.m. Saturday and continues through May 15 at Historic Yellow Springs, Chester Springs. The show is held in the Lincoln Building and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free to the public, and reservations are not required. Artwork in a variety of mediums will be on display in all the first and second floor galleries, and miniatures will be found in the second floor gallery. • WWE’s Saturday Night Main Event comes to Santander Arena, Reading, on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Universal Champion Roman Reigns will defend his title against Drew McIntyre. Also scheduled to appear are The New Day, Sheamus, The Usos, Charlotte Flair and many more. Tickets start at $15. On Sunday at 6 p.m., the Christian pop duo for King & Country returns with its What Are We Waiting For? Tour. The album marks profound personal and professional growth for Australia-born, Nashville-based brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone following their double Grammy-winning album “Burn the Ships.” It reflects the state of the world and their growth as men, fathers, husbands and especially humans. • “Waitress the Hit Broadway Musical” comes to the Santander Performing Arts Center, Reading, on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Broadway Series. Based on the 2007 motion picture, “Waitress” opened in 2016 at Broadway’s Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The story revolves around Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage. When a baking contest in a nearby county — and a satisfying encounter with someone new — show Jenna a chance at a fresh start, she must find the courage to seize it. Tickets start at $52.50. • The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society celebrates the return of spring with the blooming of 20 public gardens and landscapes across the Philadelphia region, including the addition of 70,000 rainbow-colored bulbs in Philadelphia’s Logan Square. The public gardens and landscapes are an integral part of the PHS mission of promoting health and well-being through horticulture. These areas create vital greenspace, contribute to much-needed tree canopy and attract vital pollinators, all while benefiting both physical and mental health. Free to access for all, these spaces offer visitors the opportunity to connect with the natural world, be inspired by plants and gardening, and foster social connections. • The Miller Center for the Arts at Reading Area Community College presents the circus variety act The Great DuBois on Friday at 7 p.m. and the Pink Floyd tribute band The Machine on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Great DuBois showcases Michael DuBois and Viktoria Grimmy performing incredible feats of juggling, hula hoops, unicycle, aerial, circus stunts, contortion and magic, all wrapped up in a blanket of comedy. Tickets are $15. The Machine is a New York-based quartet that performs a mix of Pink Floyd’s 16-album repertoire, ranging from faithful renditions of popular hits to obscure gems. • The Pennsylvania Cannabis Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Renninger’s Farmers Market, Kutztown. The event features more than 250 vendors, live music, canna-centric speakers and discussion panels. Performing Saturday are Space Kamp at 11 a.m., Mendo Dope at 1 p.m. and Cheezy and the Crackers at 3 p.m. Performing Sunday are Mendo Dope at 11 a.m., Cultivated Mind at 1 p.m. and Cody Tyler & Gypsy Convoy at 3 p.m. Admission is free. • The Colonial Theatre, Phoenixville, presents singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega on Friday at 8 p.m. Vega emerged as a leading figure of the folk-music revival of the early 1980s when, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, she sang what has been called contemporary folk or neo-folk songs of her own creation in Greenwich Village clubs. Since the release of her self-titled, critically acclaimed 1985 debut album, she has given sold-out concerts in many of the world’s best-known venues.
