Peak Drift Brewing Company is positioned to take over Columbia as the newest and trendiest go-to spot for beer and so much more.

Nestled in the heart of the Eau Claire neighborhood downtown on North Main Street, the 64,849 square feet facility is located in the former Stone Manufacturing Company facility, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Headed by Certified Master Brewer Ashley Kinart-Short, one of the only female master brewers in the nation, Peak Drift will be the first brewery of its kind in South Carolina.

The layout of the large-scale industrial building shows designs for an outdoor live entertainment area, a full restaurant, a 24-hour members-only gym, a sports complex, and approximately 25,000 square feet of space for the brewery.

The company is co-owned by siblings Greg Middleton and Sara Middleton-Styles. The sibling duo also owns Smoked on Main Street and is looking to use locally sourced ingredients and produce to make the beer which they feel will bring a fresh new take on craft brewing.

The equipment used to brew the beer at Peak Drift is top-of-the-line. Design plans include a state-of-the-art water purification system and packaging system, In-house fruit processing equipment for better sours and hard ciders, and a commercial high-volume digital can printer. The facility will also host one of Columbia's largest charging stations for electric vehicles and one of the best on-site testing labs in the region.

"This project has been a huge undertaking and when all said and done, will be a multi-million dollar investment, much of which will be offset by tax credits," said Sara. "Our vision is that Peak Drift will become a focal point of the North Main area and catalyst for growth and development of this important downtown neighborhood. We've invested a significant amount of time, expertise, and resources to make this a top-of-the-line production facility."

Peak Drift's mission to celebrate the peak moments in life through innovative craft beverages and experiences represents everything that makes the Southeast special. Known for producing high-quality, award-winning craft beers, hard seltzers, and hard ciders, the company also produces nonalcoholic beverages, including flavored sparkling water, CBD-infused sparkling water, and even nitro brew coffee.

Large-scale production of Peak Drift beverages at the North Main location will begin later this year and will be available in select Columbia retailers by the end of 2022. Those currently wanting to enjoy, purchase or sample Peak Drift brews created by the talented Kinart-Short can visit its microbrewery at Smoked. The brewery is set to open its doors to the public in 2023 and expand into other geographical markets nationwide.
