Japan and Brazil – two beer-enjoying countries that don’t get a lot of representation on American shelves. But this weekend folks in the South Bay can enjoy the beeriness of both nations with a series of events from Japas Cervejaria, a Japanese-Brazilian brewery run by three women from Brazil.

Roughly 1.8 million people of Japanese descent live in Brazil, the largest such population outside of Japan itself. Japas Cervejaria, based in São Paulo, celebrates Nipo-Brazilian culture with brews that invoke Japanese flavors like a peach sour with yuzu, an imperial stout with miso, and “Wasabiru” – an American pale ale with wasabi. (Their can designs are also wonderfully Japanese, having a mixture of elegance and super-cuteness.)

The brewery is launching a new beer in collaboration with the new TETRA Hotel in Sunnyvale. Yes, hotels brand-hugging with brewers is apparently a thing now. “The TETRA team accidentally came across the Japas beers when exploring a local Japanese supermarket for new snack and drink ideas. We reached out to them to ask about carrying the beers and found a connection between our mutual passions,” says Mike Lerman, the hotel’s general manager.

The beer, “Omotenashi,” is a lager with rice and yuzu that the hotel will serve exclusively at its restaurant. To mark the occasion the founders of Japas Cervejaria are holding events at the hotel on Friday and Saturday, August 26 and 27, including a free fireside chat with the founders, a “brewers dinner” and a party with food trucks, music and unlimited beer tastings. Anyone whose belly isn’t fully loaded with beer after that last event can perhaps head over to San Jose’s Japantown for sashimi and udon.

Here’s the full schedule:
