Baltimore's Checkerspot Brewing Co. has won Samuel Adams' 2022 Brewer Experienceship and will receive mentorship, business resources and the opportunity to partner on a collaborative beer.

The annual contest from Brewing the American Dream, the philanthropic arm of Samuel Adams, gives one craft brewer the opportunity to come to the company's Boston brewery and work with its experts, including founder and brewer Jim Koch. The company will share its brewing experience and business and marketing know-how, offer financial support and funding and provide connections to industry networking events, including the Great American Beer Festival.

Checkerspot's win comes as the South Baltimore brewery is gearing up to relocate to a new space and expand production.

"We're coming up on five years in business, and I cannot think of a better way to celebrate," Checkerspot co-founder and brewer Judy Neff said in a statement. "We just found a new 'forever home' for the taproom and brewery, and with the Experienceship prize, we’re eager to expand our impact on the Baltimore community and beyond."
